George Strait Describes "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" In New Song

George Strait

George Strait is offering up another new song from his upcoming new album, Honky Tonk Time Machine called, "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar," and it's all about everything that happens in honky tonk bars everywhere.

"Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" was written by Strait, his son Bubba Strait and Dean Dillon, and in the song, the country icon describes in detail the scene inside of a honky tonk. He sings in the first verse, "The jukebox plays Hank, 'I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry'/ Dance floor holds the folks trying to forget who they are/ That's what happens in every little honky tonk bar."

Strait first debuted "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" during a recent concert in Las Vegas , and explained to fans of how the song came about, "So I’m sittin' around, me and Bubba and Dean Dillon writing, and I'm tired and it's late. We'd written a couple of songs and I'm wanting to go to bed. 'Anybody got anything else?' And Bubba goes, 'Whiskey is the gasoline that lights the fire that burns the bridge.' We go, 'What?! Okay, we'll write that.' So we did."

The "Whiskey is the gasoline that lights the fire that burns the bridge" lyrics are the very first lyrics in the track. Listen to George Strait's new song "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" below.

Honky Tonk Time Machine — Strait's 30th career studio album — is set to be released on March 29th and in addition to "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar," fans have also previously heard "Código" and "God And Country Music" (which features a guest appearance by his grandson Harvey Strait). The King of Country's new album also includes a collaboration "Sing One with Willie" featuring Willie Nelson which the pair debuted during a Nashville show (marking the first time the two have ever shared the stage), and Strait's version of Johnny Paycheck 's classic "Old Violin."

In a statement, Strait said of his forthcoming new music, "It's been about two years since I've released a record. It was great writing with Bubba and Dean again and creating such a beautiful song with Bubba and Jeff Hyde. Also, it was a very special thing for me to be able to write and sing one with the legend Willie Nelson. I hope everyone enjoys listening to Honky Tonk Time Machine as much as I enjoyed making it."
