The world's first lung cancer vaccine trial is underway in seven countries, including the U.S. The others are the UK, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Spain and Turkey. There are 34 testing sites. It's a Phase One clinical trial that uses an mRNA vaccine, similar to the COVID-19 vaccines. BioNTech developed it to treat non-small cell lung cancer which is the most common type of lung cancer. The study’s first subject is in the UK and phase one will determine if the vaccine is safe. 134 patients are enrolled in the trial and are receiving the vaccine alongside immunotherapy.
