A Willy Wonka-inspired experience in Scotland was such a bust over the weekend, that Oompa Loompas might as well have carried the coordinators away. Tickets for the lackluster event cost $45 a person and reportedly promised a “paradise of sweet treats.” However, kids were herded into a virtually empty warehouse with nothing but an AI-background, a “sad” bouncy castle, and puny props. And perhaps the worst part…no candy in sight.
Parents were so irate over the scam that they even called the police to crack down on Willy’s Chocolate Experience. Parents attested to waiting more than an hour in line for an experience that lasted only a few minutes and didn’t include any of the sweets and treats that were promised. Event organizers ended up apologizing in a statement, acknowledging the “fabulous event” failed to meet expectations and had devolved into a “stressful and frustrating day.”
