Disney Parks Could Be Screening Temperatures Upon Re-Opening

Temperature screening could be part of Disney's "new normal" when they deem that it is safe for all of the parks to re-open.

Executive Chairman Bob Iger did an interview with Barron's and when asked about re-opening the parks after the coronavirus pandemic subsides, he mentioned that guests will have to "feel comfortable that they're safe" and "[s]ome of that could come in the form ultimately of a vaccine, but in the absence of that it could come from basically, more scrutiny, more restrictions. Just as we now do bag checks for everybody that goes into our parks, it could be that at some point we add a component of that that takes people’s temperatures, as a for-instance."

Iger did not disregard the severity of the situation in the interview but also realized the power that Disney has in providing an escape for people. "But we know when it ends that we will have things for the public to enjoy and to escape to, maybe in ways they will appreciate more than they ever have."
