Laurie DeYoung Shares Photos Of Her Florida Vacation!

According to Gallup, July is by far, the most popular month to go on vacation. August comes in second followed by (no surprise) June. They say the average American will go on vacation for a week or less and travel to a state other than the one they live in to do it. So, I fit all the “average American” categories and thought I’d offer up a little photo gallery to go with our most recent vacation story.

My husband Ed and I (and our three dogs: Jack, Frida and Tig) went to Florida during the first week of July. We often head to Sanibel Island off the Gulf coast and this year was no different. Several years ago, Ed decided he didn’t like flying much anymore so whenever we go somewhere on the east coast, in the midwest or to Florida, he drives. Occasionally, I’ll do a road trip with him but often I fly and just meet him at our final destination. He drives with our two older dogs, Jack and Frida and I fly with our youngest and smallest, Tig. You’ll notice a photo of Tig in her carry case (that conveniently fits under the seat in front of me on the plane). There’s a picture of Jack and Frida on the beach where you can see rain in the distance. It isn’t unusual to get an afternoon shower in Florida during the summer months. Tig and I got re-routed on our flight down because there were tornadoes in the Ft. Myers area so we went to West Palm Beach and sat in the airport for two hours while the storms passed. Actually, Tig didn’t sit at all, she played ball, that dog can retrieve for hours on end. I hope you’re able to enjoy a vacation sometime this summer, maybe these photos will inspire you! I even included some of the fourth of July parade we went to, and of course our dogs did a little “pool time” because it’s hot down there in July. Funny though, it was hotter that week in Baltimore than it was where we were down south. Ed is the guy with the Crocodile Dundee hat on! Hope you enjoy the photos.
