Orioles' Hall of Famer Frank Robinson Has Died At The Age Of 83

Frank Robinson, a historical Hall of Famer who played for the Baltimore Orioles from 1966-1971, has passed away at the age of 83. According to MLB.com , Robinson lost his battle to "a prolonged illness" on Thursday, Feb. 7.

Robinson was a trailblazer for the sport who was constantly recognized for his talents wherever he went. In addition to being a first class outfielder who won several MVP honors in both the American League and National League (which he won back-to-back in 1965 and 1966 playing for the Cincinnati Red and Orioles respectively), Robinson was also the first-ever African American to become a manager in the MLB. His MVP status is so impressive that he is the only player in history to have won in each league. During his six years with the Orioles, he scored 555 runs and 545 RBIs among other stats. He was a first-ballot nominee into the Baseball Hall of Fame with 89.2% of the vote in 1982.
