How far can you stretch a buck?
Well, actually, a lot of that depends on where you live!
This map was created using data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, and it shows the real value of $100 adjusted to reflect average price levels in each state.
In Mississippi, for instance, $100 would be enough to buy what would cost $115.74 in a place where prices are closer to the national average.
Unfortunately, here in Maryland, $100 is actually worth just about $90...
To be fair, though, it's important to point out that Maryland has the HIGHEST average income in the country! So consider this a little good news, and a little bad news. Mississippi has the lowest average income of all 50 states.
