Students at Barberton High School in Ohio had the opportunity to volunteer to be pepper-sprayed as part of a career tech education course in criminal science.

After obtaining permission from their parents, the teens were "subjected to a small amount of pepper spray for a brief period of time," Patti Cleary, the superintendent for the Barberton City School District said in a statement.

The teens-- who again, just to reiterate, signed up willingly for this-- were sprayed by their teacher who is a former police officer.

The real kicker? These kids didn't even get extra credit for this!
