Ravens three-time Pro-Bowl running back, Ray Rice, has been indicted by a grand jury today on third-degree aggravated assault for allegedly striking his fiancee last month.

Rice was arrested and charged with simple assault-domestic violence last month after an altercation with his fiancee, Janay Palmer, at a Casino in Atlantic City.  Palmer was also charged with simple assault.

After the arrest, TMZ released video footage of Rice dragging Palmer out of an elevator.  She appeared to be unconscious or extremely inebriated.  It was later reported that there was video of Rice striking her and knocking her out but that video was not released.

Should Rice get convicted, he faces a potential prison sentence of at least three years and up to five years, and a fine that could be up to $15,000.  He should have o problem paying the fine since it was just two years ago that he signed a $32 million deal with Baltimore.

Rice is coming off his worst NFL season rushing for just 660 yards and averaging a meager 3.1 yards per carry.  There had been talk during the season that the Ravens might part ways with their running back.  This might be the excuse they need to get out of the contract.  Ravens officials have said that they believe in Ray and they expect him to be part of the team, but we've heard NFL officials say plenty of things that never come true.
