I can't even begin to imagine what it feels like to lose a child.  Especially not if my child died the way Diane Foley's son did.

American journalist, James Foley, was beheaded by militants in Iraq as a way to send a message to the United States.  Diane Foley had to watch it.  Her son was kidnapped in 2012 while covering the situation in Syria.  After years of wondering where her son was, she finally sees him as he's losing his life.

What amazes me about this woman is her strength in such a hard time.  I could paraphrase her words but I think it would be best for you to read them yourself.  The following was posted on the "Free James Foley" Facebook page.

"We have never been prouder of our son Jim.  He gave his life trying to expose the world to the suffering of the Syrian people.  We implore the kidnappers to spare the lives of the remaining hostages.  Like Jim, they are innocents.  They have no control over American government policy in Iraq, Syria or anywhere in the world.  We thank Jim for all the joy he gave us.  He was an extraordinary son, brother, journalist and person.  Please respect our privacy in the days ahead as we mourn and cherish Jim."

It gives me goosebumps to read.  My hat is off to you, Diane Foley.  May your strength continue to carry you through this difficult time.
