Meet Hayleigh Black.  She's your normal run-of-the-mill 16-year-old high school student.  So why was she sent home on the first day of school?  Apparently the school thought her red hair was "too distracting."

It's true.  Her high school in Alabama sent her home because of her hair.  She says she's had the vibrant color for the past three years and the school never had a problem with it before.  Hayleigh wasn't the only one singled out, though.  The Superintendent said that several girls were sent home due to their hair color.

Personally, I wouldn't even have noticed her hair if they didn't point it out.

What does her awesome mom have to say about this?  She said, "As long as she's a good student, hair is the least of my worries."  Good for you, mom.

What do you think about this?  I don't think it would fly in Baltimore because Purple Friday's are way too big of a deal.
